Having trouble logging into CCR?

There have been numerous posts on the Cricut message board from members having trouble logging into CCR.

If you are clicking on the Login button and nothing is happening, then this post is for you!

In most cases the problem appears to be over zealous anti-virus programs blocking the program.

So far I have been able to find a fix for two of the culprits - Avast anti-virus and F-Secure anti-virus. Read on for the remedy...

If you use a different anti-virus program and are having trouble logging in please email me at craftroomblog@gmail.com. Let me know which anti-virus program you are using, and if there's a free or trial version of it I'll download it and see if I can find a fix for you.

First is the fix for Avast anti-virus:

There are two CCR program files that Avast is blocking. You need to add those programs as an exception. Here's how you do that:

1. Close CCR!

2. Left click on the up arrow in the bottom right corner of your screen.

3. Left click on the Avast icon

4. Click on the Real Time Shields Menu, then the Behavior Shield option, then the Expert Settings button

5. Click on the Trusted Processes button then click the Browse button

6. Click on C: drive then Program Files (x86) then click the Open button

7. Select Cricut-Craft Room then click the Open button

8. Select CCRBridge then click the Open button

9. Click the Browse button again

10. Select Cricut-Craft Room then click the Open button

11. Click the OK button

12. Click the X in the top right corner of the Avast box

Now open CCR again and try logging in.

Next is the fix for F-Secure:

Close CCR!

1. Open F-Secure by clicking on the F-Secure Icon on your desktop

or by right clicking on the triangle in the lower right of your screen, then clicking on the F-Secure icon.

2. Click the Computer Security button

3. Click the Settings button

4. If you get a User Account Control warning select Yes.

5. Click on the Deep Guard menu then on Open List of Monitored Applications

6. If ccrbridge.exe appears in the list highlight it and click on the Details button

7. In the Permission section click on Allow, then OK.

8. Uncheck the box next to Use Advanced Process Monitoring then press OK, then Close.

Open CCR and try to login!

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I was pulling my hair out until I found your easy to follow instructions.

Help. I'm still not able to log in. Reading through your directions my antivirus (Bitdefender)has been set to allow CCRBridge and Craft Room.... yet still can't log in.

Narelle

I haven't tested Bitdefender yet. I'll download it (if there's a trial version) and test it out. :)

Thank you so much, I have been trying to get into CCR for months now and haven't been able to figure out the problem. Finally it hit me that it might be the antivirus, but I couldn't figure out how to let me add programs. I googled Avast and CCR and this popped up with a quick fix. Thank you so much again and also I think this blog will help me learn about CCR, so win win:)

I'm using ZoneAlarm and can't get this to work. I've verified that both programs (CCRBridge.exe and Cricut-Craft Room.exe), along with Adobe AIR both have full inbound and outbound access to the network, but still can't get in. Any suggestions?

Narelle

Hi Sue,

You can try this: http://www.cricut.com/forum/cricut-community_postst124262_For-Zone-Alarm-users-having-trouble-logging-into-CCR.aspx

We tried disabling Zone Alarm and still cannot access the Craft Room. Any other ideas out there?

Many thanks!

Hi all -- I was having all kinds of trouble with Cricut not being able to log in on a Windows 7 system with ZoneAlarm. Called the Cricut help desk and they were extremely unhelpful -- at least they appeared to be at the time. The only thing they could do was tell me to contact ZoneAlarm support; they wouldn't be able to help me until I talked to them.

I then chatted with the ZoneAlarm help desk and was told my copy of ZoneAlarm Extreme Security was out of date -- they told me how to upgrade; the instructions I followed are below:

You will need to install the latest version of ZA with the steps below:
1) SAVE the ZoneAlarm clean tool from the link below:
http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/support/download/clean.exe

2) When the download box pops up, choose SAVE. In the next box, choose Save to Desktop

3) SAVE the latest ZoneAlarm install program from the link below:
http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/support/download/ZASPSetup_110_000_038.exe

4) When the download box pops up, choose SAVE. In the next box, choose Save to Desktop

5) Next, please uninstall ZoneAlarm by using the Uninstall option on the Remove Programs menu on the Windows Control Panel. Restart when prompted.

6) After rebooting, run the clean tool using the file you downloaded to your desktop and follow the on screen prompts to complete the uninstall. Be sure to restart your computer if prompted.

7) Clear your Windows temporary file cache by following the steps below:
- Go to Start -> Run
NOTE: If you do not have the Run option on the Start menu, you can press and hold the Windows logo key and tap the letter R .
- Type %temp% and click OK
- Select all of these files and delete them
- Empty your recycle bin

8) Reinstall ZoneAlarm again from the ZASPSetup_110_000_038.exe file you downloaded to your desktop

You will be prompted for the license key.

I followed those instructions to uninstall and clean up ZoneAlarm, then reinstalled the latest.

I then launched Cricut -- and it worked the first time!!!

So -- thank you, Cricut and ZoneAlarm help desks! I'm sorry I doubted you!

Note: the instructions above may need to be updated as time goes on and ZoneAlarm releases later versions. For the latest instructions, you may need to contact ZoneAlarm support.

Narelle

Thanks for the info Sue! I never would have thought about zone alarm being out of date causing problems with CCR! I'll add your info to the Zone Alarm info if you don't mind! :)

Narelle

Sunny

Did you happen to find any information on Bit Defender?

Lori

Thank you so much, I would have NEVER figured that out. It never crossed my mind that AVAST was the issue. Happy Dance!!!!

I've tried the Zone Alarm update and the F-Secure steps, and nothing to my avail. I can download CCR and it logs me in fine the first time, but won't again. I've been dealing with this issue for a while and Cricut isn't much help. Any other ways I can fix this? Considering selling and getting a different brand of machine.

Narelle

Do you have both those programs on your computer? Might they be conflicting with each other?

Also did you check to make sure you don't also have Windows Firewall and Windows Defender running?
